While Estée Lauder fragrances are uniformly nice, many of them just smell like they’re designed for a woman who’s a bit more mature. Imagine my shock, then, when I spritzed on the brand’s new Pleasures flanker, Pleasures Bloom , to discover that it’s eminently fresh and quite youthful.
Bloom is a fruity floral, like most scents for young women, and there’s nothing artificial about the aroma. In fact, it smells a heck of a lot like one of my favorite scents, Hanae Mori Butterfly, although a little less sweet and rich.
Bloom opens up with a soft burst of honeydew melon, followed by a round peony note that complements it nicely. Then, it settles down into a honeyed peony that wears close to the skin. It’s not super complex, but it’s distinctly pretty. And if you love Butterfly, it’s a nice lower-priced alternative.
Fergie’s new scent, Outspoken, it’s a pretty apropos comparison. No, the fragrance doesn’t smell like gum, but it does hold on the same way Stride does, solidly smelling the same all day — and it has a similarly pleasant but artificial note profile.
It opens smelling like grape popsicles and then quickly dries down to a soft floral scent with a substantial wood base that stays and stays. It’s high quality for its price point, but it’s also not the leather and vetiver rock-chick smell it’s billed as. It’s the kind of scent you wear out dancing—sexy, not too expensive, and still on no matter how sweaty the dance floor gets or how late you stay out.
Uninhibited. Feminine. Floral! Outspoken is for the woman who needs no introduction. With her fearless confidence, she lets her true personality shine through. True to herself and her beliefs…she is Outspoken. Sexy. Fearless. Unexpected. An outrageously bold expression of iced berry shockingly contrasted with ultra-feminine tuberose absolute and racy black leather. 1.7 fl. oz.
Fergie is the lead vocalist of the world-renowned music group, the Black Eyed Peas, and multi-platinum solo artist. Her solo album, The Dutchess, sold over 6 million copies worldwide. She chose Avon to collaborate on her first fragrance, a fearless mix of her bold expression and her ultra femininity.
“I’m so excited to partner with Avon to develop my first-ever fragrance. I’m always seeking out new ways to express myself, and fragrance is the perfect opportunity to share my originality and confidence with my fans, and the Avon customer. I couldn’t be happier to be working with a brand with such a strong reputation for supporting women.” — Fergie

Bond No.9 have launched Cooper Square, named for the place where the East Village meets NoHo, and the Bowery and the “new über-Downtown begin.” Bond continue: “For a century and a half, it’s modestly served as the front yard to Cooper Union, that world-famous architecture and engineering institution, and as a strategically located sliver of a park where traffic barreling down from uptown swerves and merges to form the start of uber-Downtown, otherwise known as the Bowery. But today, Cooper Square itself is in motion, zooming into the 21st century—and acquiring a new image as the latest New York hot-spot (worthy of the Bond No. 9 treatment, its own eau de parfum).”
